Job Description:

Experience:
• Grade 1: Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Worker with no experience
• Grade 2: Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Worker with a minimum of 10 years appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
• Grade 3: Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Worker with a minimum of 20 years appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions
• Grade 4: Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Worker with a minimum of 30 years appropriate experience in Social Work after registration as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions


Key performance areas:
• Render social work services with regard to the care, support, protection and development of vulnerable individuals, groups, families and communities through the relevant programmes and attend to any other matters that could result in, or stem from, social instability in any form;
• Support social auxiliary workers and volunteers;
• Keep up to date with new developments in the social work and social welfare fields as well as legislation and policy framework and develop, determine and plan programmes to render the recommended interventions efficiently, effectively and economically;
• Perform all administration requirements of the job;
• Mentor and coach sub-ordinates in order to render and effective and efficient social work service.


Competencies:
• Knowledge of the relevant legislations, policies and prescripts as well as human behaviour and social systems;
• Good communication (written and verbal) skill in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape;
• Customer service orientated;
• Self-management and motivation skills;


Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.


MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. The MMS package may be structured for a car allowance. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees' service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Requirements:
• Relevant B-degree or equivalent - NQF 6;
• Registered with South African Council for Social Service Profession as a Social Worker;
• A valid driver's licence.
